40 YEARS IN LOVE

We met at summer camp. She asked me to winter formal. I gave her a promise ring for her sixteenth birthday and an engagement ring for her eighteenth. I got my first credit card to buy the ring. Yes, we were that young and in love. Looking back, it seems crazy, but I wouldn't do it any differently. When you know you know.

It has not been as easy as that since then. Life is hard. Raising three kids and their occasional friends and cousins living with us was a lot. But we did it together. And we still are doing it together. Our whole family wanted a change after 30 years in a very public ministry role in California where we both grew up, so we packed up our van and moved to Tennessee.

I didn't want all the responsibility of caring for a whole church, but I love helping couples get and stay happily married. So we went into the wedding business full time. I officiate weddings and do premarital counseling and marriage coaching. Traci does day of coordination and runs our AirBNB rentals on our property in the country outside Nashville.
